John,
I knew that was coming, and I don't disagree for a second that regeneration is the only real and lasting cure for sin. Regeneration transforms degeneration.

However, what I am saying is that common grace and natural law and "residual effects of Christianity" - all can have some excellent benefits on a culture - even one that is missing the gospel.

Some lost people play the cello in a symphony. Some lost people sing "booty rap". The fact that both exist and have artistic freedom does not bother me.

But the sales of Lil Wayne are MUCH greater than the groups of the 80's, and there is no corresponding critique - from the pulpits, the op-ed section, or D.C.

While Tipper's husband, that "environmental guy" had not invented the internet yet, :) groups such as 2 Live Crew, Sir Mix-a-Lot, were very mainstream. You had guys like Eazy E, NWA, et al, getting major air time and kids were wearing their gear.

Back in 1979-80 rap was fairly innocent, songs were mainly about my crew is better than your crew. The genre itself is not a bad thing. In fact a large portion of my audio library contains Christian rap, and many are Reformed!

What exactly is my moral duty in regards to wordly musical lyrics? What hath I to do with "Booty Records?" My duty is Christ and His Gospel and when He regenerates a soul, then He will remove those desires for those things...He did for me.

We're all growing up next to Lil Wayne's, they're called lost people.

On reference to mourning doves and Jorinda’s song about doves into a single discussion as their meaning very much overlaps. The primary thing to consider about turtle doves is that because of their mournful calls, they were often considered a harbinger of death.

Dear Scott,
It was great to see you briefly this past Lord's Day...now I know why you were in Louisville! I tried to find you after service, but had to get to a meeting.
Hopefully I'll see more of you soon!

Congratulations, Scott. I'm sure it is a bittersweet departure. I wish you and your family well as you engadge in this new ministry. I suspected this might be the direction you were headed when you first shared that change was in wind. I wish we would have had more time to talk at Indy. It was good seeing you and Steve again.

May God bless you in your new ministy assignment.
