Singing the Blues in Folsom
We read in the news this morning that a concert celebrating the 40th anniversary of Johnny cash singing at Folsom State prison is now canceled because of problems over filming rights, media access and security concerns.” The concert was set for January 13, 2008, to be played on the same cafeteria stage as the original event.
What is interesting about the story is that Prison Fellowship Ministries was set to help underwrite the concert. Joe Avila, the executive director for Prison Fellowship Ministries, said, “‘Johnny [Cash] was wild at heart, just like these men, but just like him, they can change. They can walk the line.’”
