Pathway letter to the Editor…enthusiastic about the idea of Dr. Mohler for Pres.

Winston ChurchillThis letter to the editor was in this week’s Pathway, from a reader in Orlando, Florida…
Mohler is the most articulate, inspiring Christian spokesman

Thanks, Don Hinkle, for another fantastic (and timely) “Thoughts & Adventures” column. At this particular time in Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) history we could not find a better man for the convention presidency than Dr. Al Mohler, president, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky. He embodies just what is needed to re-energize the core values of the “Conservative Resurgence.” He epitomizes what was envisioned as first fruits of the Baptist Reformation. I am one old man who certainly hopes to be in Indianapolis to vote for that marvelous young man called “Al.”

The complaint that he is an SBC seminary president rings hollow in face of the challenging demands for effective, wise and visionary leadership needed now in the SBC. And, with Russell Moore, Southern’s vice president for academic affairs, and many other able assistants, Southern will not suffer from lack of attention. We need the tested and proven leadership of Dr. Mohler. Millions of others, believers and unbelievers alike, need the courageous and focused spiritual leadership he will bring to the SBC presidency and to the nation from that post.

Time and again, Dr. Mohler has proven able to deliver what is needed when it is needed, making him the most articulate and inspiring Christian spokesman of our day. Firmly in the tradition of Adrian Rogers, he is one we can trust to stand in the gap when and where it really counts, and to deliver effective actions and words in a timely fashion. While SBC president, we can trust him to recognize, analyze, understand and resolve problems, whether endemic or ones yet to occur.

Let’s print some “I’m-For-Al” bumper-stickers.
