Scottie Reynolds lays 40, that’s right 40 points on Connecticut!

My wife’s cousin, freshman Scottie Reynolds scored 40 POINTS tonight against Connecticut, just about sealing his status as Rookie of the Year for the Big East conference. And, as always, I must point out that this kid’s character is even better than his basketball.

STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Scottie Reynolds scored a career-high 40 points to lead
Villanova to a 78-74 win over Connecticut Wednesday and improve the Wildcats chances for an NCAA tournament bid.

The 40 points is the most ever scored against the Huskies at Gampel Pavilion. Jackson State’s Lindsay Hunter had 39 in an NIT game in 1993.

Villanova (20-9, 8-7 Big East) is assured of finishing at least .500 in league play.

Reynolds, the leading candidate for the league’s rookie of the year, hit six 3-pointers including two in a 10-0 run early in the second half that gave Villanova a 12-point lead. Reynolds’ previous best was 27 against Notre Dame on Jan. 17.

Now, what is this guy going to do in a splash of March Madness? Is he going to lead Villanova to some “George Mason” Cinderella sweetness?

We shall see!!!
