Kudos to NAMB trustees, The Christian Index
The trustees at the North American Mission Board deserve kudos for their handling of the questionable practices employed by NAMB President Bob Reccord. While Reccord did nothing illegal, it is now clear that some type of action was in order. The NAMB trustees have won the confidence of Southern Baptists, an ever-increasing number of which are demanding more accountability where their Cooperative Program dollars are concerned.
What has been lost in all this NAMB stuff is the work of The Christian Index, the newspaper owned by the Georgia Baptist Convention’s executive board. While its use of anonymous sources to identify some of the problems at NAMB made me uncomfortable, we now know they were reliable. The Index staff, led by Editor Gerald Harris and Managing Editor Joe Westbury, was subjected to some pretty severe criticism following the release of their expose on the NAMB situation. Turns out they were right and Southern Baptists owe them their deepest gratitude.

If the comment had been absolutely neutral, perhaps we would have let an anonymous comment slide through.
